It is used in ceremonies and as medicine, particularly for teaching young girls about womanhood and their feminine power, culminating in a celebratory gathering after a year-long berry fast. During Odeyimin Kizis (Strawberry Moon in June), the indigenous community unites for feasts and ceremonies, embracing healing, reconciliation, and the celebration of life and abundance.
