The Eastern White Cedar is also known as Arborvitae which translates to the Tree of Life. The name comes from when Native Americans helped Jacques Cartier by giving him a tea made from cedar to treat scurvy. 

The current oldest living Eastern White Cedar (found in Ontario overlooking the great lakes) is 1062 years old.

Indigenous tribes often use cedar for its healing properties, purification and for spiritual protection. It is believed in Native American cultures that cedar trees house powerful spirits that will protect the people.

The clear protective sleeve your print comes in is plastic free and made out of cellulose. It can go straight into your green bin! The rest of the packaging can be re-used or recycled as well.
